For scholars registered for a PhD at an Indian institution who want to spend part of the thesis period at a US university: the fellowship covers a J-1 visa, a monthly stipend, health insurance, round-trip airfare and allowances (none for dependents). You need a US host and your thesis must be submitted at least three months after the fellowship ends. The 2027–28 cycle closed on 1 July 2026; the next call should open in the spring.
