Contribute

The site is only as good as what scholars put into it. Here is how to add things.

1. Create an account

Register with your programme stage and research areas. That lets you post on the forums, use the activity feed, message people and join groups.

2. Post it on the forums

The quickest route. A call for papers or a fellowship goes in Opportunities & Deadlines (include the deadline and the link); notes or past exams go in the board for that course under Coursework; a paper summary or an explainer draft goes in Empirical Methods. An editor moves it into the right section of the site.

3. Build an explainer

Each interactive explainer is a single self-contained HTML file (its own styles and scripts, scoped so they do not affect the rest of the site) that is pasted into the paper’s page. If you want to make one for a paper on the list, start from the structure of an existing one — sections that follow the paper, an interactive element where the intuition lives, a quiz at the end — and send the file to an editor or post it on the Empirical Methods board. We will add it with your name on it.

4. Become an editor

If you would rather add entries directly — opportunities with deadlines, resources, coursework files, paper pages — ask on the forums or message an admin. Editors get a dashboard where each section has a ready-made template and a details box (deadline, organiser and link for opportunities; authors, journal and DOI for papers).

What makes a good entry

  • Opportunity: the deadline (exact date), who is eligible, what it pays or offers, and the official link — not a news article about it.
  • Paper page: the question, the data, the source of variation and what has to be assumed, the main result, and why it is on the list. Link to the DOI; do not upload the PDF.
  • Resource: the link, who it is for, and the one non-obvious thing about using it (how to get access, which version, what it costs).
  • Coursework material: a clear title with the course and year, the type tagged, and a line on who made it and known errors.

Copyright, briefly

Upload what you made or what was shared freely with the class. Journal articles, textbooks and anything marked confidential should be linked, not uploaded — the DU library gives everyone access to the journals. If something of yours is here and you want it removed, message an admin and it will be taken down.
